Hello, we’re Darren and Crystal, the D and the C behind Easy DC Chinese.

Darren is an English teacher from the UK who currently lives and works in Spain. When he’s not in the classroom, he’s a language learner himself, studying French and Mandarin Chinese. Whilst learning Chinese, Darren quickly realised there was a problem: there wasn’t enough high-quality audio material for beginners. Finding simple, slow-paced and useful audio content that would really help train the ear turned out to be surprisingly difficult. That’s when the idea for Easy DC Chinese was born: to create the resource he would have loved to have had and to help other students on their own language journey.

Crystal is a native Chinese teacher who also lives in Spain. With years of experience teaching Mandarin to Spanish and English speakers, she fully understands the difficulties students face, particularly when it comes to listening comprehension and pronunciation. Her clear, patient voice and expert guidance bring every story to life.

Together, we create simple, authentic stories in slow, clear Chinese, using beginner vocabulary. Our aim is to help you develop your listening skills naturally through accessible content, whether you’re on your way to work, exercising, or simply relaxing at home.
